1) On Facebook, I have my initial account under my own name, but then I have several company pages that I manage. Facebook has the ability to not only allow me to easily manage these pages with a single login, but when I'm on a company page, I can actually choose to post as that company or as myself. Same thing when I'm on my actual page, I can either post as myself or as one of my companies. This is great feature because it allows me the flexibility to cross promote my accounts. For example, I may post an event for one of my clients, then while still on that company page, switch over to posting as myself and then I "like" and "comment" on that same event post, which now places it on my personal wall for all of my followers to see. Unless I'm just missing something, Google+ does not allow this flexibility. If you are on your own page, you can only post as yourself and then once you go to one of your company pages, you can only post as that company. This really limits my marketing strategies for using Google+.
2) Again back to Facebook; if I find an article that I want to share, using whatever tool is available for sharing on the website the article resides (which is usually ShareThis), with Facebook I can choose to share it to my personal account or to any of my company pages. This is a huge time saver, because depending on the article, I can immediately post it to the appropriate entity on Facebook. Not so with Google+. No matter what, it always posts to my personal account, even if I'm currently logged into it as my business. This is really annoying and makes me want to just leave off Google+ when I do share articles.
3) Now when I do actually decide to share an article on my Google+ personal page, I've noticed that it just grabs whatever photo it thinks is appropriate for the article and posts that along side the link. Facebook will do this as well, except that before you post, you have the option to choose a different photo or to not use a photo at all. Because of this limitation, I now have postings on my Google+ page with completely unrelated and distracting photos, like this:
I'd like to hear from others with either the same experience or tips on how they have overcome these limitations with Google+, so please leave your comments. Thanks.
